Emotionally Focused Therapy Externship

About Me

I am a couples therapist in Littleton, Colorado, working with individuals and couples who feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or at a crossroads in their relationships. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who have tried talking things through, waiting for things to improve, or handling it on their own, and are now looking for clarity, structure, and honest guidance.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

My approach is direct, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. Therapy here is not open-ended or passive. We focus on understanding the relational patterns driving distress, the emotional impact on each partner, and what meaningful change would actually require.

Some couples come in hoping to repair and rebuild trust. Others arrive uncertain whether the relationship can continue. Both are valid starting points. My role as a couples therapist is to help you slow things down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and move toward clarity rather than staying stuck in cycles of conflict, distance, or resentment.

Areas of Focus

  • Betrayal and loss of trust
  • Emotional distance and resentment
  • Chronic conflict or shutdown
  • High-stress life transitions
  • Ambivalence about staying in the relationship
I also work with individuals dealing with relationship trauma, anxiety, and major life transitions, particularly when relational stress is central.

Professional Background

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.

My clinical work is informed by attachment theory, systems theory, and contemporary research in couples and family therapy. I actively participate in supervision and consultation to ensure ethical, thoughtful, and high-quality care.

Clients often describe my style as calm, grounded, and direct. I provide structure and guidance in sessions while maintaining emotional safety and respect for each person’s experience.

In-Person and Online Therapy Options

I offer in-person couples therapy in Littleton, Colorado, and secure telehealth therapy for individuals and couples throughout Colorado. This allows clients to choose the format that best fits their schedules, comfort level, and needs.

What You Can Expect

  • A clear framework for understanding relationship patterns
  • Honest, grounded feedback without blame or shaming
  • Sessions that are structured, intentional, and emotionally attuned
  • Respect for your pace, values, and autonomy
You don’t need to know exactly what you want before starting therapy. Many clients begin feeling unsure, conflicted, or emotionally exhausted. My role is to help you make sense of that and decide your next steps with clarity rather than fear.
